Climb the sacred mountain of Phnom Santuk near Kampong Thom
About 17 kilometers south of Kampong Thom provincial town, Phnom Santuk is a nice little stopover for those seeking a less-touristy local place of interest. To get up the mountain, you’ll have to walk up 980 steps, and once at the top, you will find a peaceful Buddhist pagoda with many Buddha statues carved from great mountain rock, strange sculptures, some monkeys, and a number of monks living here. Besides the cultural and history charms, Phnom Santuk mountain top offers an excellent view of the forest and rice paddies beyond, making it a fun visit for all travelers.
