Hike to Panauti from Dhulikhel
This is a perfect day hiking in Kathmandu that offers beautiful mountain views, cultural insights and a glimpse of the enchanting lifestyle of the Newar people in Nepal. Starting from Dhulikhel, a small Newari town with old houses and temples just out of the city center, the 3.5 hour trek will take you to Namobuddha Viewpoint and Namobuddha Monastery. Situated at the hilltop of Panauti, Namobuddha is a very important Buddhist pilgrimage site with stupa and shrines, where Lord Buddha cut his own flesh to feed Tigress. After visiting some temples, you can continue with a pleasant walk through rice fields and traditional Newar villages to see the architecture of old Nepal and their way of living. The Dhulikhel – Panauti day hiking is an easy short trek for all aged group travellers and typically for those seeking an escape from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu city.
