Mangkunegaran Palace in Solo

Established in 1757 by Raden Mas Said, Mangkunegaran is a small palace in the center of Solo city that is also a fine example of Javanese-European blend architecture. Though still functioning as a royal residence, some parts of the palace are open to the public as museums. There, visitors can admire various royal collections, most are the personal items of Mangkunegara VII, including traditional dresses for royal dances, the gifts of European kings, jewelry, a duplicate of the royal heirlooms and gamelan. The palace is a perfect site to explore the culture and art in Solo city.
