Pobitora is a wildlife sanctuary on the southern bank of the Brahmaputra in Morigaon district of India's paradise of wildlife, Assam. It was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1987 and covers the total region of 38.85 km2 providing grassland and wetland habitat for the Indian One-Horned rhinoceros. It is landlocked by Assamese villages from every side of it with the traditional Assamese culture. The region is also the home to a variety of bird species and their number is augmented by migrants in winter with approximately 5000 migratory birds. Hence this is also an ideal place for wildlife expeditions including jungle discovery, animals spotting, and thrilling safari on the back of elephants or jeep cars. Pobitora itself features favorable opportunities to see the great Rhinos and many other species in wild and beautiful landscape.
