"Discover some best caves in Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park"

Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park is a paradise of plenty of mighty caves in Vietnam and because of its feature, this is a wonderful destination for nature lovers who have the soul of adventures. When it comes to this place, travellers tend to mention the biggest cave in the world - Son Doong Cave which was found by a local man named Ho Khanh. However, because of the safety and conservation reasons, there is a limited number of tourists can visit each year. Even if you miss the chance to visit this largest cave, this national park still has many other sublime caves for you to discover such as En Cave (is considered as the 3rd largest cave in the world) & Paradise Cave (underground palace cave).

Just after a short drive of around 70 km away from Dong Hoi city centre, you will arrive Dark Cave and immerse into the tranquil Chay River, fresh atmosphere and spectacular nature. There are 2 ways you can reach Dark Cave which is taking a boat along Chay River or doing the zip line to the entrance of the cave. Exploring the cave to some truly unique experiences like walking in the almost dark with an only flashlight on your helmet, admire thousands of stalactite pillars in various shapes, taking natural mud bath and kayaking along Chay River. 

"Boating upstream the Son River and visit Phong Nha Cave"

Phong Nha Cave is one of the very important caves in Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park which is used as a hospital to store and hide equipment during the American war, and now it is renowned the longest wet cave in the world and was recognized by UNESCO since 2003 as the world's natural heritage. While taking a boat upstream the Son River, you will have a great opportunity to witness the daily life of locals, and also take some awesome photos of the amazing scenery along the river. From Son River, it takes nearly 30 minutes to reach Phong Nha Cave. Once you get there, you will admire its spectacular beauty with plenty of stalactites and many large and small cave branches.

"Relaxing on the Nhat Le Beach"

Nhat Le Beach which is located about 2km to the northeast from Dong Hoi city centre is a perfect place for you to witness the sunrise and sunset along the horizon. In the morning, you can get up early to enjoy the sun rising up and the beach looks like a big mirror reflecting the array pink sunlight. After immersing yourself into the clear blue water and vast white sand, you can enjoy the local seafood while catching a glimpse of crystalline blue waters glistening under the last sun rays.

"Visiting the duck farm"

If you have an extra day in Phong Nha, Quang Binh and would love to have a short excursion which offers you an unusual experience which will be one of the highlights of your trip in Vietnam, the Duck Stop will be a perfect choice. Coming to this duck farm, you will truly become a real farmer for the cost of around 150,000 VND (~$7) depend on the package you choose and have a free "massage" given by ducks that eat out of your hands. The owner and staff there will guide you on how to hold a handful of seeds in your cupped palms to let the ducks can munch them and creating a massaging effect. Besides the duck massage, you will have another bizarre experience when hopping on the back of a water buffalo called Donald Trump along the rice fields. Finally, ending the trip with the traditional Vietnamese pancake with peanut sauce (vegetarian option available) and soft drink. 

"Dry Squid with Mango Salad (Muc Bop Xoai)"

Have you ever tried dry shredded squid and fresh mango mixed together? It may sound a bit unusual but once you taste this dish in Dong Hoi city, you will fall in love with it. The dish is a harmony of the balance between a sour tinge and a little sweet taste. You'll find this special food is a mixture of the main ingredient - dry shredded squid with small slices of mango, add in this mixture some chilli, lemon liquid and fish sauce. To find the best place to enjoy this food, head to Nhat Le Beach or Bao Ninh Beach, you will find the countless stalls which offer this traditional dish at the finest quality.

"Steamed Crab with Grourb (Cua Hap Bi Dao)"

This food is one of the locals' favourite food in the hot summer days since it is such a delicious dish to help them cool down. This is the combination of braised squash and river crab which will be added with minced onions, a bit oil, chilli, salt, spices, pepper and seasoning seeds. This dish seems easy to make but it contains a great amount of nutrition and also very tasty. You can find this food at any floating restaurant along the Nhat Le riverside but the restaurant to try it is the Chang Chang Seafood restaurant.

"Claypot Rice (Com Nieu)"

If you have not tried any type of rice in Vietnam yet, this will be a perfect opportunity to try this dish. Claypot Rice is rather different from some type of rice. Locals put the rice into the pot and heat it up till it has a nice aromatic smell. The best way to enjoy this dish is by eating that with other different locally cooked dishes like beef, pork, vegetable soup and especially some river fishes. The flavours when eating them together is quite fascinating to feel and it may be one of the highlights of your Quang Binh trip. 

"Banh Canh porridge"

One of the most popular traditional dishes in Quang Binh Province is Banh Canh porridge. The broth to make this porridge is the mixture of snakehead fish, prawns, ribs, noodles and a tiny amount of spices. This mixture will then be boiled and once you feel the nice smell from it, it is all ready to enjoy. Having this dish as breakfast is the best choice to get a stomach full of healthy before starting your day trip.
