Elephant Conservation Center in Sayaboury - the real land of elephants
Welcome to the Elephant Conservation Center of Laos (ECC)! Created in 2011 by a team of experts in Sayaboury (3 hours by road from Luang Prabang), the ECC is not just another elephant camp, but a real sanctuary for Laos’ elephants. Here you will meet a dedicated international team of experts, mahouts, and elephant vets who are trying to take care of the elephants who have endured the mistreatment from the logging industry and mass tourism. The ECC staff helps elephants develop hunting and socialization skills, then gradually reintroduce them to the wild and eventually release to live on their own. In the center, you will learn all about Asia's most iconic creature and of course, do not expect any touristic rides.
