Take a jungle walk around Bishajari Lake
Bishajari Lake, or locally called Bishazari Tal, is an extensive oxbow lake system inside the buffer zone of the Chitwan National Park, the first national park of Nepal in the Inner Terai. In the Nepali, its name means “20,000 lakes” as there are lots of small and big lakes forming the large oxbow lake system. Covering an area of 3,200 hectares, this forested wetland is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, such as Bengal tiger, sloth bear, one-horned rhinoceros, white-rumped vulture, lesser adjutant stork and mugger crocodile, etc. Though the chance of spotting some rare wild animals depends much on your luck, it’s still a real jungle safari you should not miss out when in Nepal. Bishajari Lake is also a paradise for bird watchers and nature lovers since it provides refuge to a variety of 543 bird species and around 700 species of butterflies.
