Toba Batak folk dance performance
Settled on the Northern tip of the Samosir Island in Lake Toba, Sumatra, Simanindo Village is one of the best places to learn about Toba Batak culture in the region. There, you will visit King Sidauruk’s Batak traditional house restored and opened to the public as a museum in 1969. Apart from nice ancient Batak artifacts, the real highlight of this museum is the daily cultural dance performance. This Toba Batak folk dance show is played by the villagers and mostly includes ritual prayers to the gods, asking for being granted sons, daughters, wealth and health. At the end, tourists might be loaned festive shoulder cloths and invited to dance a few rounds.
