Visit the World famous Havelies with Fresco Paintings
Mandawa, the City of Art, is a semi-desert region of Shekhwati. It is often considered as an open art gallery of Rajasthan because the whole township is unique and famous for its gorgeous mansions (Havelis) that are decorated with beautiful frescos. The walls were served as a canvas in this form of painting. This rare art can still be seen in Mandawa's Havelis and forts today. These paintings mainly depict the lifestyle of the Marwari merchants and their ideas are completely random depending on artisans and owners. Visitors can see lavishly painted walls in every corner of Mandawa. Rooms of the castle are even also adorned with painting of Lord Krishna along with unprecedented mirror work. Notable havelis like Gulab Rai Ladia Haveli, The Binsidhar Newatia Haveli, Mohanlal Saraf Haveli, Chowkhani Haveli, and Ladia Haveli & Castle feature some of the finest frescos in this area.
