Wogo village & Ngada Culture
If you like a stepping back in time trip on Flores Island, a visit to Wogo village will be definitely worth your time. Wogo village now is actually the new one as villagers left their original place & resettled here, but it’s still built in the same manner with traditional U-shape layout. Like Bena, Wogo is another site to explore Ngada Culture, where you can see thatched wooden houses surrounding the central space with small traditional houses and umbrella huts, representing symbols of the villagers’ ancestors. Wogo village gives a much better feel for Ngada village life with many kids playing outside and villagers stopping to say hello, creating a friendly & warm atmosphere for a lived-in community feel.
