Discover peaceful Xidi Ancient Village
About 40km from the city of Huangshan locates a well-preserved and time-honored ancient village of Xidi which has a rich history spanning over 900 years. In 2000, Xidi Ancient Village was recognized as a part of the “Ancient Villages in Southern Anhui” World Heritage Site by UNESCO along with Hongcun Ancient Village. Originally built during the Song Dynasty in the 11th century, the picturesque village proudly exemplifies the typical features of Anhui-style architecture with the narrow paved alleys, the tall white walls, the adorned gates, traditional housing layouts, and the intricately carved wooden interiors mainly dating back from the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Its important cultural and historical values as well as the great conservation of the villages's legacy have made Xidi Ancient Village one of the most famous tourist sites of Huzhou region.
