If you are curious about the traditional dancing style of the Laotian people, let’s join a show of Lamvong, the most popular folk dance as well as the national dance of Laos that is well-known throughout the Lao-speaking region and in every age. In Lao language, Lamvong means “circle dance” that includes beautiful arm and hand gestures combining harmoniously with simple footsteps along with the slow music rhythm of Khaen, a traditional Lao musical instrument. This classical Lao dance is usually performed during Lao New Year and on some special occasions such as festivals, weddings, ceremonies or guest welcoming.
