Goa Gajah (Elephant Cave)
Goa Gajah, or better known as the Elephant Cave, is an important archaeological and historical site located just outside of Ubud in Bali. Believed to have been built in the 9th century, the complex served as a hermitage or sanctuary. Though being a sacred Hindu site, the complex contains many carved images of stupas and imagery of Buddhism next to statues and symbols of Hindu deities. With a mysterious cave, ancient relics, aged bathing pools, and ponds set amid green lush surroundings, Goa Gajah is an interesting place for a short adventure in Bali.
