Keris traditional dance performance
Keris Dance is a popular dance part of Barong dance drama. The scene is about the appearance of the Rangda character with shape like a giant with a big canine. She casts black magic upon Airlangga's soldiers played by male dancers, and orders all to kill themselves, pointing their poisoned keris into their own stomachs and chests. In response, Barong in shape of a lion-like creature and the priest cast protective magic on these men, which makes their bodies to be resistant to the sharp keris. The dance is performed by villagers and there is a live gamelan orchestra accompanying during the show.
