Explore the Authentic Tha Kha Floating Market
Though smaller and less known than its neighbors, Damnoen Saduak and Amphawa, Tha Kha Floating Market is a very nice alternative for visitors who wish to discover an authentic Thai floating market without the huge crowds of tourists. Just an hour and a half out of Bangkok, this relaxing market is set in a small village in Samut Songkhram province and now runs every weekend. Here, you can see quite a lot of elderly Thais in their rowboats, selling mainly local produce and ready-to-eat cooked food. The main buyers are not tourists but the Tha Kha natives who buy food from their own rowboats. You can also enjoy a leisure rowboat ride through the canals to see wooden houses and palm orchards or take a short stroll to a palm sugar factory.
