Zhujiajiao, which is known as "Little Venice of Shanghai", is a lovely ancient watertown covering an area of 47 square kilometers on the outskirts of Shanghai. The town is located in Qingpu District, glimmers like a bright pearl in the landscape of lakes and mountains, and hosts a great history of over 1,700 years. Zhujiajiao prospered through clothing and rice businesses and was a busy trading area in the past centuries due to its convenient water transportation with a dense system of canals and waterways. The ancient township is famous for the picturesque and antique setting with unique old bridges across bubbling streams, small rivers shaded by willow trees, and narrow lanes full of beautiful historic architectures including cultural sites, ancient houses, long-established stores, etc. Wandering around Zhujiajiao, visitors can embrace the traditional Chinese ambiance through a lot of delights from artisanal products & special delicacies to many sights of historic interest across the town.
