King Purba Palace
Sit on the edge of Pematang Purba village, King Purba Palace (also known as Rumah Bolon Raja Purba) is one of the best highlights in North Sumatra tours. The palace is actually an old authentic traditional house of Simalungun tribe with long-house design and ‘gorga’ carving ornaments. The uniqueness of this structure is that it was built without any single nails but used wood, bamboo and palm fiber as main materials. Besides the main house serving as a museum, visitors can go inside several magnificent traditional buildings surrounding the palace, including meeting halls, assistants’ houses and rice barns.
