Indonesian Railway Museum
Fans of vintage railways or train buffs will love Indonesian Railway Museum, a station-converted museum in Ambarawa, Central Java on October 1976. The station was built in 1873 and named the Willem I Railway Station since it was the Dutch King Willem I who ordered its development. Now the museum consists of an impressive collection of 21 old steam locomotives, the oldest of which is the 1891 Hartmann Chemnitz, as well as the remains of the old 3 foot and 6 inch (1,067 mm) railway line. Visitors to Indonesian Railway Museum could obviously witness the extensive vintage train collection or several antique items on display, such as old telephones, Morse telegraphs, old bells or signals equipment. Don't forget to bring your cameras for tons of photographs of Dutch buildings and rustic interiors.
