Crocodile Farming Institute Philippines
The Crocodile Farming Institute in Puerto Princesa City, or officially named the Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center, is an interesting place to see some of the indigenous animals to the region. Established in 1987 with the help from the Japanese government, the center aimed to conserve two endangered crocodile species the Philippine saltwater crocodile (Crocodylus porosus) and the Philippine freshwater crocodile (Crocodylus mindorensis), as well as introduce crocodile farming technology to local communities. All activities are under the control of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species. After the expansion in 2000, it works as a wildlife rescue center for some of Palawan's endemic animals, making it soon a famous attraction to see and learn more about crocodiles.
