Batukaru temple
Batukaru Temple, also called Pura Luhur Batukaru by locals, is one of Bali’s nine directional temples that protects the island from evil spirits. Located in Tabanan regency at the foot of namesake Mount Batukaru, this Hindu temple comprises a series of flowering gardens and ancient structures covered in green moss. Several shrines and high meru towers inside the walled compounds are built in unmistakably ancient Balinese architecture, in which the most important is a 7-tiered meru dedicated to Mahadewa, the God of Mount Batukaru. If you’re after a place of silence and serenity, Batukaru Temple is an excellent option in Bali’s central highlands.
