The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary (Monkey Forest Ubud)
Mandala Suci Wenara Wana, or The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary (Monkey Forest Ubud), is a famous tourist attraction in Ubud that appeals thousands of visitors each month. As its name, the sanctuary is a natural habitat of over 700 Balinese long-tailed Monkeys located in the village of Padangtegal and owned by this community. Coming to this park, other than watching the monkeys’ interaction and behavior, you can get abundant of fresh air when walking along the trails through the 12.5 hectares of forest or spend time at a public hall and gallery. You can also visit the three ancient Hindu temples in Monkey Forest Ubud: Pura Dalem Agung Padangtegal, Pura Beji, and Pura Prajapati that play an important role in the spiritual life of the local community though some sacred areas are closed to the public.
