Rizal Park
Named after the Filipino patriot José Rizal who was executed in 1896 here by the Spanish colonial authorities, Rizal Park is not only a major tourist destination in Manila but also of great historical significance. Widely known as Luneta Park, this iconic central park covers an area of 58 hectares, making it one of the largest urban parks in Asia. Visitors to the park can enjoy an atmospheric stroll to visit many ornamental gardens and monuments, such as the Site of Rizal's Execution, the Central Lagoon, the open-air auditorium, and the Chess Plaza. If you visit the park in the late afternoon, you will find the place vibrant and busy with various groups gathered to practice tai chi or the local martial art of arnis.
