Mount Agung - Bali’s highest volcano
Standing majestically on East Bali with an elevation of 3,031 meters, Mount Agung or Gunung Agung is the highest peak on the island which is home to the mother of all temples: Besakih Temple. This active stratovolcano is believed the abode of the gods by the Balinese, therefore, it is revered as sacred by the locals. Though encountering some recent volcanic activity, Mt. Agung has become a challenging destination for trekkers and explorers with guided climbing tours. The major highlight of the trek is to capture the first light of day at the summit and see the entire island from the top. On a clear day, you can even catch a view of Mount Rinjani, the tallest peak on the nearby island of Lombok.
