Taman Ayun temple
If you’re planning a day trip to West Bali, don’t miss Pura Taman Ayun, one of the most visited temples in the village of Mengwi, Badung regency. Surrounded by moss-covered walls and wide algae-filled moat, this huge royal water temple was built in 1634 by the ruler of the Mengwi kingdom and extensively renovated in 1937. The first courtyard is a large serene garden with beautiful lotus-filled ponds, while the inner courtyard includes many meru towers and small shrines. This centuries-old temple site is a charming attraction to marvel not only at magnificent traditional features of early Balinese architecture but also to relax and get away from crowds.
